SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR @ START THE CONVERSATION

THANK YOU volunteers who supported our LLC as we host a SECOND book fair for the 1st time. Together we sold just over $8000... (before tax)!

Over 100+ resources will join our LLC. All classes selected a Mental Health and Wellness book for their libraries.

Congratulations to the 3 students and their educators who all received $25 each to spend at the fair!

Our next Book Fair will take place the week of Parent-Teacher Interviews.

FOREST OF READING® PROGRAM

My first time executing The Forest of Reading® program was very exciting. I loved exploring the 10 Blue Spruce nominated book with all K-3 classes and facilitating their voting process. Their vote helped declare a winner: SHARK LADY by Jess Keating.

I also enjoyed promoting reading engagement with our Jr. and Int. students who enjoyed our Silver Birch and Red Maple selections.

The initiative of FOREST OF READING from the Ontario Library Association (OLA) offers eight reading programs to encourage a love of reading in people of all ages. The Forest helps celebrate Canadian books, publishers, authors and illustrators. More than 250,000 readers participate annually from their School and/or Public Library. All Ontarians/Canadians are invited to participate via their local public library, school library, or individually.

GABRIELLA L. DI PADRE, OCT

Teacher-Librarian/Student Engagement and Wellness Lead

I am thrilled to begin my 13th year at K.P.S. on a new learning journey in our Library Learning Commons this year! I am confident that my diverse educational and professional experiences and additional qualifications in Special Education, Kindergarten, Assessment and Evaluation, and Librarianship will help me when servicing K.P.S. Coyotes – students, families, and staff.

I am qualified to teach FDK to Gr. 12 and love learning! As well as homeroom teacher, I have worked in the following roles: Reading Recovery teacher, Literacy Teacher, and Primary Lead. I am thoroughly enjoying getting to see the entire student body - former students and new Coyotes joining our pack - in our 'den!'

This year, I join our amazing leadership team as the co-lead of Student Engagement and Wellness. Great fun and exciting adventure awaits us in the areas of Character Matters, Mental Health, and our House Colour Teams!

My strongest beliefs are living life by the Golden Rule: “Treat others the way you want to be treated” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HADIgbrSW5s

and genuinely caring about others. This has been fundamental to my practice since day one. Over the years, Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer's How Full is Your Bucket? has been a staple concept I continue to share with children of all ages: being a bucket filler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5R6-2m_qHk THIS - is the premise of what my work is all about in the Coyote Den!

A special thank you to Mrs. S. Amedeo whose friendship and mentorship, passion and dedication to this special space are one in a million! Every day, I strive to make you proud. Thank you for being such an inspiration. xo

You can find me in the Library Learning Commons during recess as well as at School Council meetings alongside fellow educator reps and our administrative team.
